Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Review (Cubed3)

Added: 02.09.2013 10:18 | 42 views | 0 comments

"Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is the latest instalment in the Giana Sisters franchise, which originally started out with Great Giana Sisters, a clone of the first Super Mario Bros. game. After Nintendo pressured the developer, the game was withdrawn from sale. This latest instalment in the franchise has now gained its own original footing, thanks to Black Forest Games; a team made up of former members from the now defunct Spellbound Entertainment, which worked on the DS instalment. Cubed3 takes another look at this beautiful platform title after looking at the PlayStation Network edition originally, to see how the Wii U version fares against the other formats. Was it worth the wait?", writes Cubed3.

Giana Sisters: pretenders to the Mushroom Kingdom crown

Added: 02.09.2013 5:18 | 37 views | 0 comments

The original Great Giana Sisters was so similar to Super Mario Bros that it was forced off store shelves. Owing to a series of miraculous circumstances the Giana Sisters have clawed their way back to existence and as of this week their latest game shares residence in the Wii U eShop alongside the latest spawn of the royal line, New Super Mario Bros U. So given both games have a direct line of inspiration back to more or less the same 8-bit design, what can Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams tell us about what a Mario platforming series free from the pressures of fame might have been like?

EdEN writes: After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012 that raised $186,158 in total, the Giana Sisters have found their way to the PS3 in a colorful and dark platformer that features a nice mix of the collect-a-thon nature of platformers in the 90s with a nice coat of 21st Century paint that brings the game into a new era. But, who are the Giana Sisters?

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams review | Thunderbolt

Added: 23.04.2013 15:17 | 39 views | 0 comments

James Dewitt, Thunderbolt writes: The journey of the Giana Sisters series is a fascinating piece of gaming historyoriginally little more than a rip-off of Super Mario Bros., its similar nature supposedly led to a lawsuit that saw the 1987 platformer pulled from stores. Fast-forward many years later to see the sisters resurrected on the Nintendo DS of all places bearing few similarities to Nintendos biggest mascots, followed by a successful Kickstarter campaign to get another title off the ground. That success has brought Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams from Steam to the XBLA marketplacea game that now marches to the beat of its own drum while capturing timeless qualities that make for a good platformer.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Review | Gaming Age

Added: 10.04.2013 20:18 | 37 views | 0 comments

Gaming Age: "Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams certainly is a pretty game, and at it's core is a decent platformer. But, that's about it. A simple platform adventure that you basically run from point A to B, throw in a boss battle, rinse and repeat. What will draw gamers in is are the stunning visuals and simple gameplay that almost anyone can get the hang of. You will see elements from other games and very little being done with them, and it's that fact that really keeps true to the Giana Sisters legacy, something borrowed and not that much new. While the world switching is a nice touch, it really doesn't distract from the fact that it's a simple game that has a hard time standing out. It's lengthy loading times, small control issues and somewhat hefty price tag are also turn offs here. If you are a Giana Sisters fan from way back, then you will no doubt grab this one. For everyone else I recommend trying out the demo, to see if you will enjoy it. It's not terrible or broken by any mea...
